This site is for requesting a Death Certificate for deaths occurring within the city limits of  Detroit Only.    To request a death record for any of the other  34 cities / townships within Wayne County  Click Here   Records for Detroit are with the Dept of Vital Records at Herman Kieffer and not with the Wayne County Clerk.

$32. 00  - Includes the Dept of Health fee of  $17. 00 for a Death Certificate.  They issue Certified  Only  and  my physical pickup fee of $15. 00 from this location.   The exact date of death is required.   If unknown, you will need    to request the Detroit Death Index Service First at this link.  Doing this will serve a two-fold purpose.        ( 1 ) You will have the exact date of death, full name and age as listed with the Department of Health, ( 2 ) This will also validate if the Death Record is with the Dept of Health or filed with the Wayne County Clerk                Example:  If  the deceased lived in Detroit, this does not necessarily guarentee their death record will be with        the Dept of Vital Records in Detroit.   The person could have been visiting someone in Hamtramck ( still in Wayne County, but outside Detroit ) thus, the Death Record would be with the Wayne County Clerk instead.
